Henri Mueller

Director, Henri Mueller has an affinity with country areas having grown up in the regional city of Port Lincoln, South Australia. He combines a high level of qualifications in regional and urban planning with over 20 years experience in town planning and senior management for Local Government in peri-urban settings. Henri is a qualified regional and urban planner with a Bachelor of Arts in Town Planning from the then South Australian Institute of Technology. He also has a Graduate Diploma in Regional and Urban Planning obtained from the University of South Australia, and is a Corporate Member of the Planning Institute of Australia. In addition Henri holds a Degree in Master of Environmental Studies from the University of Adelaide, and has a Professional Certificate in Management also from the University of Adelaide.

Henri has a broad repertoire of skills in integrated land use planning, development assessment, environmental policy analysis, and management within Local Government. He has held positions ranging from Acting Chief Executive Officer and Manager of Environment & Development Services for the District Council of Mallala, Principal Planner for the City of Brighton, District Planner for the Mount Pleasant Council, and Planning Officer for the City of Tea Tree Gully.

Henri has considerable experience in managing multidisciplinary teams of professionals from related fields including urban design, civil and hydrological engineering, and social research. He has coordinated a number of urban and streetscape design projects, and facilitated numerous research projects including the Mallala Council Planning and Infrastructure Study, the Light River Flood Plain and Flood Mitigation Scenarios Mapping Project, the Samphire Coast Conservation and Community Action Plan, and the Thompson Beach Shorebird Interpretive Trails Project.

Henri played a major role in carrying out research, investigations, and policy formulation for numerous Development Plan Amendments (DPA’s) and Plan Amendment Reports (PAR’s) including among other things the Draft DC Mallala Better Development Plan Conversion DPA, the Gawler River Flood Plain Flood Mitigation PAR, the Lewiston/Two Wells, Gawler River and Environs and Townships PAR, and the Draft Mallala Township Transport, Commercial and Residential DPA.

Henri’s experience in assessing development applications includes numerous large land division applications, child-care centres, nursing homes, shopping centres, intensive animal keeping, bulk handling facilities, livestock markets, and industrial development. Prior to leaving the Mallala Council he undertook the assessment of the Mallala Depot redevelopment, a non-complying development involving significant site contamination issues in a residential area.
